A quick, honest explanation of how this site is put together.
How pages are researched and written
Guides are written from a mix of general destination knowledge and ongoing research, aimed at being genuinely useful rather than optimized purely for search engines. Where something is time-sensitive — entry rules, seasonal conditions, fees — we say so explicitly and point you to where to verify it, rather than stating it as a fixed fact that will quietly go stale.
No paid placement
We don't accept payment in exchange for a favorable mention, ranking, or inclusion. If that ever changes for a specific page, it will be disclosed clearly on that page, not buried in fine print.
Corrections
Travel information changes constantly — prices, opening hours, even which beaches have sargassum on a given week. When we're told about something that's changed, we update the specific page and its "last updated" date rather than letting it quietly drift out of date. See how to reach us if you spot something.
Why some pages hedge on specifics
You'll notice pages about entry requirements, fees, and seasonal risk deliberately avoid stating exact current figures with total confidence — that's intentional. A guide that states a number confidently and gets it wrong six months later is worse than one that's honest about needing a final check against an official source.
How referral links differ from paid placement
A small number of pages carry disclosed referral links — for example a travel card or a travel-gear retailer, marked clearly and disclosed in the sidebar or strip where they appear. These are not the same thing as paid placement, and it's worth being explicit about the difference:
- Paid placement would mean a business paying us to be recommended, ranked higher, or included at all. We don't do this, on the map or anywhere else on the site.
- Referral links point to third-party products or services we'd suggest regardless of the link — a card gets a small commission if you sign up through it, at no extra cost to you. The product recommendation comes first; the link is just how it's tracked.
Every referral link on the site carries a visible disclosure line next to it, and none of them influence which places, zones, or guides we write about or how we describe them. See our Privacy Policy for how the analytics and referral tracking on this site work.
