What they actually offer
Xcaret focuses on a broad mix: underground river snorkeling, a butterfly pavilion, a large aquarium area, and a big evening cultural show. Xel-Há leans more specifically into a natural snorkeling lagoon experience with less theme-park infrastructure around it.
Worth it, or better spent elsewhere?
These parks work well for travelers who want a single, easy, planned-out day without arranging separate cenote, snorkeling and cultural activities themselves — the convenience is real, at a price that reflects it. If you're comfortable arranging your own day (a cenote here, a snorkeling trip there), you'll generally spend less doing it piece by piece.
Good to know
Tickets are usually sold well in advance online at a discount versus gate price, and most parks are a meaningful drive south of Cancún — factor in transport time or book a package that includes it.
